Joel and I went on a cruise the week of Thanksgiving. We were gone seven days and cruised to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. We had a freaking BLAST!!! It was the first cruise for both of us, so we were worried about getting sick, but we had great luck and never got ill! We cannot wait to go again! Maybe to the bahamas next time?? Any suggestions of great cruises to go on??
About to depart in New Orleans |
Our first stop was Jamaica. We honeymooned in Jamaica, so we knew how gorgeous the water and scenery was. We did not plan an excursion for this day, so we just went to a resort and laid on the beach and played in the water all day. The water was great, and as always, the Jamaican people are SOOO nice...well, everyone that does not try to sell you weed! haha
Then we were off to Grand Cayman. We met a sweet family during breakfast, who told us they had two extra spots for "snorkeling" during this stop. They had chartered their own boat, and we wouldn't have to go out with the cruise excursion that can be up to 200 people. We exchanged numbers and they told us we could think about it and let them know. Well, one of Joel's requests was that we go snorkeling, so we decided to go with them. I was not sure whether or not I would snorkel...I have a fear of sharks/alligators/snakes/big fish that bite, etc. But I tagged along for the ride. We were greeted by this sweet guy: Meet Domingo...our guide for the day.
We get on the boat and take off looking at the beautiful scenery
Then a dolphin starts following the boat!! It was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen! It followed us for about 10 minutes.
Ok so you know our sweet guide Domingo, he then proceeds to ask us if we would rather go snorkeling first or swim with the sting rays?? I am like WTH did he just say???? STING RAYS?? You have got to be kidding me, I barely want to put one big toe in that water and you are asking if I want to swim with STING RAYS!!! All that kept flashing through my head was this guy:
Anywho...we pull up to a sandbar and the sting rays are everywhere!! And they are MASSIVE!! All 21 people hop on in the water and I am left there on the boat "taking pictures!" haha There were about 8 children under the age of 12 in the water begging me to get in. They kept saying..."are you scared??" "It's not that bad" "If we can do it, then you can."
So after waiting about 20 minutes I got in the water, and once again it was SOOOO much fun! They were the sweetest little things! We fed them, KISSED them, and they gave us back massages. I am so glad I tackled my fear and took the plunge.

Then we went snorkeling which was beautiful too!
The next day we were off to Cozumel. We did not have an excursion planned for this day either. We got off the ship and hit the town looking for something to do. We ended up renting a scooter. This allowed us to ride the whole island and sight see for the entire day.
I felt like we were living this movie:

I snapped some pictures from the back of the scooter, and we spent part of our day on the beach at a resort.
Love this guy!! |
